Ok, I'm Up For Suggestions! HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY BLOG?

I realize it probably takes a long time to get consistent readers and followers of one's blog, but I have only gained 3 friends since December of 2009, and, (I love you all), but you don't come around much anymore. But you could say the same about me.....where did she go? Well, I'm on Facebook, playing games, talking to friends I know and others I do not. Hmmmm, not such a wise use of time? Yes and no. I have met some wonderful people on Facebook who just want and need someone to talk with. Many have disabilities and cannot work, and this is their only link to something even close to friendship and family. If there's one reason God put me here on this earth for, it's to "listen", listen attentively, listen caringly, thoughtfully and genuinely. Sometimes I speak when I should listen. And sometimes I do too much listening and not enough For example, day before yesterday I went out to run an errand. I was going to stop by the gas company and pay for rental of the tank, then stop by the Dollar Store and get some spider spray. To make a long story short, I met a little older lady there who just began to strike up a conversation-----an hour and a half later, we are still standing there talking. I've done this before.....I can't bring myself to leave or excuse myself because I figure this person has a need; they need someone to listen and really "hear" what they're saying. More often than not, it is someone I do not know at all, have never met, but for some reason they gravitate towards me. Well, apparently my blog is not causing people to gravitate towards me, but that's not why I put the blog here in the first place. It was to help you gravitate towards God, to get you to think, to help you get into a peaceful place. And guess what!! I came onto my blog today and "I"! found a peaceful place! I loved the soft music, the pictures of my grandchildren almost made me cry with inner joy! But, I realize I'm new to this blogging thing and am ready for some suggestions:) So, HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY BLOG?

  1. I apologize for not having visited in such a long time... busy with other things, both and good and time wasters! I know what you mean about the frustration of having few followers and then seeing someone else's blog and they've got about a zillion or so... The only practical advice I could give is to visit other's blogs and leave comments--often. I like to visit the English blogs as I just love hearing about a different cultures. Maybe the foreign bloggers may be a bit intrigued by a 'foreigner' and check out your blog? I believe there are other ways to promote your blog, but at this point, I couldn't tell you what they are. You could also become a follower of other's blogs, and one thing I've done occasionally is post a link to my blog on FB. Or.... you could pray for God to send you readers who are 'searching' in more ways than one! Ha! Anyway, I'll read some posts I've missed here. have a blessed day!

  2. Hi Mimi! I've enjoyed my visit to your blog and I'm looking forward to following you :)
To answer your request for suggestions, I can only offer a couple: I think to gain a larger readership, you really need to post a minimum of 3 times per week (from what I hear), and also to maybe stay with a particular theme so people will know what to expect when they visit. Also, another great way I've found is to visit other blogs and comment - not a comment begging them to visit YOUR blog (because they usually will, anyway - they're curious). But just a simple comment about their post. (I just found yours through Faithful Bloggers). I visit maybe 50 blogs a day to follow or leave comments or both. It takes time to build a following, but diligence always pays off, and the process is SO fun :)
    Be blessed today!

  3. Thank you Joy and Debbie, your suggestions have been quite helpful. I DO need to post a lot more often on my blog. Had gotten caught up in playing games on FB, but through the conviction of the Holy Spirit, I knew I was wasting a lot of valuable time. Oh, I'm not saying the games are bad, but when they consume too much of your time, .....well, I just knew I wasn't using my time wisely, so I have quit the gaming part and am just keeping up with my friends :)
